Is Linktree free? What each Linktree plan costs

By Nation 8 min read

Quick answer

Linktree is free on its Free plan, which costs $0 a month and is labelled free with restrictions. Billed yearly, Starter costs $6 a month, Pro costs $12 a month and Premium costs $30 a month, and monthly billing costs more. Selling digital products on the Free plan costs a 12% Linktree fee on each sale, which drops to 9% on Starter and Pro and 0% on Premium.

Nation, an AI store builder, publishes this page. It is pre-launch, with a waitlist on withnation.ai, so it is not in the fee comparison. See where Nation fits.

Is Linktree free?

Yes, Linktree is free to start. The Free plan costs $0 a month, and Linktree's pricing page labels it free with restrictions. It includes unlimited basic links and email and phone sign-ups.

The restrictions show up in three places. Personal design options, custom designs and longer analytics history come with the paid plans. Some limits, such as featured links and Instagram auto-replies, are lower on Free. And when you sell digital products or courses through your Linktree, the Free plan pays the highest Linktree fee per sale, 12%.

So Linktree costs money in two cases: you want what a paid plan adds, or you sell through your page and pay fees on each sale. The rest of this page lists what each plan costs and where the fees apply.

Linktree pricing: every plan in one table

Linktree has four plans for one person or brand. Each paid plan includes everything in the plan before it. Yearly billing charges the year up front at a lower monthly rate. The table shows the US dollar prices on Linktree's pricing page.

Linktree plans and prices, US
PlanBilled monthlyBilled yearly, per monthWhat it adds
Free$0$0unlimited basic links and email and phone sign-ups
Starter$8 a month$6 a montha personalized Linktree, unlimited featured links and basic analytics
Pro$15 a month$12 a monthremoval of Linktree branding, custom designs and mailing list integrations
Premium$35 a month$30 a monthlink rules and routing, AI integrations, all-time analytics, data export, social media scheduling and Instagram auto-replies

Pro and Premium start with a free trial of 7 days.

Teams and agencies that run several Linktree pages can ask for an Agency or Enterprise plan, which Linktree says comes with team seats, dedicated support and custom contracts. Linktree builds a custom plan for each team, so there is no list price.

Linktree plans compared: the limits that change

Some features exist on every plan but with different limits. Linktree's help center lists these per plan.

Analytics history also grows with the plan. Insights cover the last 90 days on Starter, the last 365 days on Pro and the full account lifetime on Premium.

Removing the Linktree footer from your page is available on Pro and Premium plans. On Free and Starter, the Linktree button stays at the bottom of your page.

Linktree seller fees on digital products and Shop sales

Two kinds of fees apply when you earn through Linktree. Linktree's own fee, which it calls a transaction fee, depends on your plan. Payment processing goes to Stripe and is the same on every plan.

For digital products and courses, Linktree's fee is a percentage of the sale price. The plan comparison table on Linktree's pricing page lists 12% on Free, 9% on Starter, 9% on Pro and 0% on Premium. Stripe's processing fee is 2.9% + $0.30 per purchase on every plan.

  • Payouts: Linktree's pricing page gives a fee of USD$0.25 per payout as an example of its fees. Its fee help article says Stripe charges $0.25 per payout on every plan for Shop and Sponsored Link earnings.
  • Linktree Shop, for merch and brand affiliate products, works on commission. Linktree's fee there is a percentage of the commission you earn, not the total order value, and it is already factored into the commission you see in the product catalog. On Premium the table says you keep 100% of earnings, with a footnote that transaction and processing fees may apply.
  • Linktree Shops and Sponsored Links are available to Linkers in the United States. Paid digital products are only available in certain countries.
  • Refunds do not return fees: they are deducted automatically and non-refundable.

Linktree's pages do not all agree. The Pro plan card says "Sell and earn with 0% fees", while the plan comparison table on the same page lists 9% for Pro on digital products and courses. The help center guide to selling digital products is labelled "Available on Pro and Premium plans", while the table lists fees for selling on Free and Starter too. This page uses the table, because it gives the rate for each plan. Check what your plan allows and the fee in your Linktree admin before you count on it.

Linktree's Free plan fee on a $30 sale, compared

Example: one $30 ebook sold by card to a US buyer. Linktree's Free plan is compared with three other places creators sell digital products, using each platform's own published rates.

Fees on one $30 digital product sale, US seller Platform fee plus card processing on the sale. Monthly plans are noted next to each amount.
  1. Stan Store $1.17 plus $29/month Stan 0% $0, Card 2.9% + $0.30 $1.17
  2. Sellfy $1.17 plus $29 a month Sellfy 0% $0, Card 2.9% + 30¢ $1.17
  3. Gumroad $4.67 no monthly fee Gumroad 10% + $0.50 $3.50, Card 2.9% + $0.30 $1.17
  4. Linktree Free baseline $4.77 no monthly fee on the Free plan Linktree 12% $3.60, Stripe 2.9% + $0.30 $1.17

Assumes a $30 digital product, a standard US card, no tax, no refunds and no payout fee. Linktree uses the Free plan rate; on Starter and Pro its fee is 9%, and on Premium it is 0%.

Linktree Pro and the other plans: which one fits

The right plan depends on what your page does. These are the plain trade-offs, using Linktree's own plan list.

  • Stay on Free if your page is a list of links and a sign-up form. It costs $0, and if nothing sells through it, no Linktree fee applies.
  • Pick Starter if you want a personalized Linktree, unlimited featured links and basic analytics. It does not remove the Linktree footer, and its fee on digital products is 9%.
  • Pick Pro if you want your own look. It adds removal of Linktree branding, custom designs and mailing list integrations. Its fee on digital products in the comparison table is the same as Starter's, 9%.
  • Pick Premium if you sell often or need link rules and routing, AI integrations, all-time analytics, data export, social media scheduling and Instagram auto-replies. It is the plan with a 0% Linktree fee on digital products and courses.
  • Ask about Agency or Enterprise if a team runs several Linktree pages.

To see when a plan pays for itself, compare its monthly price with the Linktree fee it saves you. Multiply your monthly sales by the drop in the fee rate. If the result is larger than the plan's price, the plan costs less than staying on Free.

Linktree free trial, billing and cancelling

Linktree Pro and Premium start with a free trial of 7 days. The Free plan costs $0, so you can try Linktree itself without paying. Linktree's help center says you can cancel your plan anytime in your Billing settings.

On the web you can pay for a plan with a credit or debit card, PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay. Yearly billing costs less per month than monthly billing on every paid plan, but you pay for the year at once. Linktree's help center says you can move back to the Free plan at any time, and that after you cancel you keep the paid features until the close of your current billing period.

Before you sell on Linktree

A few rules from Linktree's help center apply before your first sale. To take payments you need to connect a Stripe account, and prices for a digital product can be set between $1.00 and $10,000 USD. Stripe pays your earnings out to your bank on a schedule you choose: daily, weekly or monthly.

Linktree's help center also says that for digital products, you are responsible for compliance with applicable laws, including tax and consumer laws, and for handling disputes and refunds. Refunds and disputes are handled entirely via Stripe, and you issue refunds through your Stripe Dashboard.
