What Meta Verified for business is

Meta Verified for business is a monthly subscription that a business buys for a Facebook Page, an Instagram professional account or a WhatsApp business number. Meta checks the business details you submit, and once the check passes, the subscribed account shows a verified badge. Every plan also includes impersonation protection and access to support agents, and the higher plans add profile and reach features.

There are four business plans. Business Standard costs $14.99/month, Business Plus $49.99/month, Business Premium $149.99/month and Business Max $499.99/month. Each price covers one Facebook Page, Instagram account or WhatsApp phone number. If you subscribe on both Facebook and Instagram, Meta says you save 20% on your total subscription.

You do not always get to pick any plan. Meta decides which plans you can see based on your business activity on Meta's apps, and the measures it uses may include profile visits, post engagement, status views. Meta also says plans, benefits and availability may vary by region, app, and account, so the subscription flow shows what your own account can buy.

The table lists what each business plan adds on Facebook and Instagram, as Meta's own plan page states it for US dollar pricing. Every plan includes the verified badge and impersonation protection, so the table shows the parts that change from plan to plan.

Meta's plan page also lists search optimization, featured profile, custom chat themes and personalized content strategy advice, and marks which plans unlock each one. Meta adds a footnote to enhanced support: some businesses who advertise on Meta technologies have access to this support benefit today. In other words, round-the-clock agent support is a listed benefit, but you may already have it if you run ads.

The badge, impersonation protection and support

The badge is the part most sellers want. If you subscribe a Facebook Page, the badge shows on your Facebook Page and Messenger account. If you subscribe an Instagram account, it shows on your Instagram and Threads accounts. The badge tells a buyer that Meta has checked the business behind the account. It does not say anything about product quality or delivery times.

Impersonation protection is listed on every plan. Meta's plan page does not explain in detail how it works. For a small shop it matters most when fake accounts message your followers with discount offers or payment links. Business Premium and Business Max extend impersonation protection to employees' accounts: 2 employees on Premium and 5 employees on Max.

Support is the third part. Business Standard gives you chat or email with agents 24/7. Plus adds a promise to get issues resolved more quickly, Premium lets you request a call from an agent, and Max adds active case monitoring. Agent support is most useful when you are locked out of an account or an ad account has been restricted.

All benefits apply to only the subscribed Facebook Page, Instagram account or WhatsApp phone number. They do not carry over to other Pages or accounts in the same business portfolio, so a second brand needs its own subscription.

What the plans add on WhatsApp

A subscription can also cover a WhatsApp Business phone number. The badge then shows on your WhatsApp business profile, chat header and channel. Meta's plan page lists verified channels, linked devices for team members who answer chats, a custom web page and prioritized support on the WhatsApp side, and protected business accounts on the two top plans.

How to get Meta Verified for your business

Meta's terms set out who can apply and what the check involves. Have your business contact details ready before you start.

  1. Check that you qualify

You need an existing Business Portfolio in Meta Business Suite, and you must be 18 years of age or older, or the age of majority in your country. You must also be located in a country in which Meta Verified is being offered. Meta Verified is not offered to government, non-profit and political organizations.

  2. Complete the profile you want to verify

A Facebook Page needs a complete profile, including profile picture, cover photo and category. An Instagram account must be a professional account with a complete profile, including profile picture and category. The account must not exceed threshold account change activity, such as a name change, within a certain time period.

  3. Choose a plan and pay

Log in to the business Page or Instagram professional account and start the subscription. The flow shows the plans your account can buy. To start verification you must provide the initial subscription payment and enable AP for your business asset.

  4. Confirm your business details

Meta may ask you to confirm the business name, address, phone number, website, tax ID (if required), and owner name. You may also be asked to upload business documents or government ID, or provide bank verification. Meta says it sends an update within 3 business days.

  5. Keep the details stable

Once you pay, the account's name, handle, bio and category cannot be changed for the duration of the subscription. Settle your shop name and handle before you subscribe.

Terms to know before you subscribe

Meta Verified is automatically renewing, so it keeps charging until you cancel. These points from Meta's subscription terms are the ones most likely to affect a small seller.

  • Refunds: all purchases are non-refundable, except as required by law.
  • Cancelling: Meta's plan page says You can cancel anytime, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current subscription term.
  • Failed payments: if a renewal fails, Meta adds a grace period of up to 16 days, depending on your payment method so you can update the card.
  • Price changes: Meta gives at least 30 days' notice before a price increase.
  • Existing badges: if your account was verified before the subscription existed, no action is needed to keep an existing verified badge.

Which small sellers Meta Verified helps

The badge and protection help most when buyers find you on Instagram or Facebook and pay you directly, through a link in your bio, a DM or a shop. That is where fake copies of a shop do the most damage, and where a badge reassures a buyer who has never heard of you.

Business Standard at $14.99/month covers the badge, impersonation protection and agent support, which is what most one-person shops need. Business Plus at $49.99/month makes sense when you post reels that should send people to a product page, since it adds links in reels (2 per month). Premium and Max add protection for employees' accounts and more business addresses, which suits brands with staff and several locations.

Meta Verified helps less if most of your sales come from a marketplace such as Etsy or Amazon, where buyers check the marketplace's own reviews instead of your social profile. It also does not buy reach in a measured way. The plans list search optimization and featured profile, but Meta does not publish how much extra visibility these give, so weigh them as a possible extra when you decide.

Example: a candle maker who sells through Instagram DMs and has had a copycat account message followers would get the most from Business Standard. A maker who sells mainly on Etsy and posts on Instagram once a week would get little from any plan.
