Poshmark shipping: the prepaid label, weight limits and ship-by rules

By Nation 8 min read

Quick answer

Poshmark shipping uses one prepaid USPS label per order: the buyer pays a flat $6.49, and the label covers up to five pounds (5 lbs). Heavier parcels need an upgraded label that the seller buys, up to 15 lbs per order. The seller must ship within seven (7) days from the date the order was purchased.

How Poshmark shipping works

When a Poshmark item sells, Poshmark gives the seller one (1) prepaid shipping label or QR code per order, with the postage already paid by the buyer. Poshmark describes its program as shipping labels sent straight to your inbox.

The rule for sellers is simple: they must use Poshmark’s provided shipping labels when shipping all orders. You do not choose a carrier, compare rates or buy postage yourself, unless the parcel is over the weight limit.

The shipping policy refers to these parcels as USPS Ground Advantage shipments, and it also says we cannot guarantee shipping times or choice of carriers. The table sums up the rules; the shipping policy in force is Version 1.3, effective February 13th 2026.

Who pays for Poshmark shipping

The buyer pays. Poshmark's shipping policy says Buyers must pay for any shipping fees, and the standard fee is a flat $6.49. It does not change with distance, so a buyer in the next town and a buyer across the country pay the same.

The seller pays when the parcel is heavy or oversized. Poshmark's help center puts overweight shipping costs on the seller: over 5 lbs paid by seller. Packages that miss USPS label standards on package size, actual weight, or calculated dimensional or volumetric weight are the seller's responsibility too, and Poshmark reserves the right to charge the carrier overage fee to the Seller.

Poshmark's selling fee is separate from shipping. For sales of $15 and above the fee is 20%; below that it is a flat $2.95. The Poshmark fees guide works through both.

The Poshmark weight limit and upgraded labels

The standard prepaid label supports five pounds (5 lbs), which includes the weight of the box and any packaging materials. Weigh the packed box, not only the item. A pair of boots in a sturdy shoe box can pass the limit even when the boots alone do not.

If the packed box is heavier, buy an upgraded label before you ship. Upgraded labels cover shipments over 5 lbs, up to 15 lbs, which the seller must purchase, and you find them in the Accounts Tab in the Poshmark platform. The hard cap is 15 lbs for any one order.

Skipping the upgrade is a risk. Poshmark reserves the right to refuse packages over 5 lbs without an upgraded label, and it reserves the right to charge Sellers for not upgrading labels. A refused parcel also eats into your ship-by window.

How to ship a Poshmark order, step by step

These steps cover a standard order that fits on the prepaid label.

  1. Open the label

Find the prepaid label Poshmark sends to your inbox. Each order gets one (1) prepaid shipping label or QR code per order.

  2. Pack the item

Use a plain box or mailer that protects the item. USPS Priority Mail packaging can no longer be used to ship Poshmark orders: USPS may refuse the shipment at the Post Office counter or return it to sender. Poshmark also states that Poshmark is not liable for damages due to improper or inadequate packaging by Seller.

  3. Weigh the packed parcel

If the box with all packaging is over five pounds (5 lbs), buy an upgraded label in the Accounts Tab in the Poshmark platform before you attach anything.

  4. Print the label or use the QR code

Print the label and tape it flat on the largest side of the box. Without a printer, use printerless shipping with a QR code scanned at any USPS location.

  5. Drop it off with USPS

Hand the parcel to USPS and keep the receipt. The acceptance scan is what proves you shipped on time.

  6. Wait for delivery and acceptance

The buyer must report any problem within three (3) days after the date of delivery scan. If the buyer takes no action within three (3) days of the date of delivery, the order counts as accepted and Poshmark credits your account, minus its fees.

How long you have to ship a Poshmark order

The shipping policy says the seller must ship within seven (7) days from the date the order was purchased, as verified by an active carrier scan. The clock starts at purchase, not when you notice the order, so check the app each day while you have open listings.

Late orders have consequences. If you miss the window, the buyer can cancel the order. Your account standing is at risk too: unshipped or cancelled orders at 3% or more of your total orders within a rolling 90-day period count against you as a seller.

Poshmark shipping on bundles

A bundle is several items from one closet bought in a single order. The one prepaid label per order is there to send the Item (or Items in the case of a Bundle order), so the buyer pays the flat $6.49 once rather than once per item.

The weight limit applies to the whole bundle. Three pairs of jeans in one box can pass five pounds (5 lbs) quickly, and then the seller needs an upgraded label. Weigh a large bundle before you accept an offer on it, so you know whether the upgrade eats into your earnings.

Using your own label, and what happens if something goes wrong

Do not ship a Poshmark order on a label you bought elsewhere. Sellers must use Poshmark’s provided shipping labels when shipping all orders, and users are prohibited from using Label for any purpose other than shipping the purchased item(s) to the buyer.

Returns are limited. All purchases are final with no returns, refunds, cancellations, or retractions allowed, apart from a few listed exceptions. Posh Protect does not cover items that do not fit, or orders where the Buyer changed their mind. A buyer whose parcel was lost, damaged or not as described must report it within three (3) days after the date of delivery scan.

Some items cannot go in the mail at all. Each user is responsible for shipping in line with USPS Publication 52 - Hazardous, Restricted, and Perishable Mail, so check it before you list anything that may count as hazardous.

Questions about Poshmark shipping

How much is Poshmark shipping?

Poshmark shipping is a flat $6.49 per order, and the buyer pays it at checkout. The fee covers one prepaid USPS label for a parcel up to five pounds (5 lbs), including the box and packaging. Heavier parcels need an upgraded label, which the seller buys, up to 15 lbs per order.

Does the seller pay for shipping on Poshmark?

On a standard Poshmark order the seller does not pay for shipping: Buyers must pay for any shipping fees, at a flat $6.49. The seller pays for upgraded labels on parcels over five pounds (5 lbs), and Poshmark reserves the right to charge the carrier overage fee to the Seller when a package misses USPS label standards.

What is the weight limit for Poshmark shipping?

The Poshmark prepaid label covers up to five pounds (5 lbs), and that weight includes the box and any packaging. For a heavier parcel the seller buys an upgraded label. The maximum for any one order is 15 lbs. For a heavier order, the policy says Sellers must contact support@poshmark.com to ask about an exception.

How long do I have to ship a Poshmark order?

A Poshmark seller must ship within seven (7) days from the date the order was purchased, as shown by a carrier scan. If the parcel is not shipped in that time, the buyer can cancel the order. Late and cancelled orders also hurt your seller standing once they reach 3% or more of your total orders within a rolling 90-day period, so ship as soon as you can.

Can I ship a Poshmark order without a printer?

You can ship a Poshmark order without a printer. Poshmark offers printerless shipping with a QR code scanned at any USPS location, so the code is scanned at a USPS location instead of a label printed at home. The weight limit, the packaging rules and the ship-by window are the same as for a label you print at home.
