How to Connect Nation to Grok Bot

By Nation 7 min read

Quick answer

Grok Bot adds connectors as plugins from Connect apps, and it supports custom MCP servers of the Remote HTTPS type. Add Nation as a Remote HTTPS server with the URL https://mcp.withnation.ai/mcp, sign in to Nation and pick your store, then type @ in a chat to attach it. On grok.com, add the same URL under New Connector, then Custom.

Nation publishes this guide about its own connector. The steps for Grok Bot come from its maker's own documentation, checked 13 Oct 2026. See where Nation fits.

What you need before you connect

  • Grok Bot, which is included with every paid individual Cursor plan and with the Cursor Teams plan.
  • On a Cursor team, a connector policy that allows the server: Grok Bot inherits your team's Cursor connector policy.
  • A Nation account and a store with an active plan.
  • The Nation server URL: https://mcp.withnation.ai/mcp

Add Nation to Grok Bot

xAI documents that connectors are installed as plugins from Connect apps. Its Team Bots page lists Remote HTTPS custom MCP servers as a plugin type, but the docs do not show the exact screen for adding one, so the labels in your app may differ slightly.

  1. Open Connect apps

In the Grok Bot app, select Connect apps in the sidebar. In the mobile app, tap your avatar at the top left, then Connect apps.

  2. Add Nation as a Remote HTTPS server

Nation is not in the Connect apps catalog yet, so add it as a custom MCP server and choose Remote HTTPS. Enter Nation as the name and https://mcp.withnation.ai/mcp as the server URL.

  3. Sign in

When Grok Bot asks you to Authorize or Authenticate, finish Nation's sign-in in your browser, as described in the next section. If sign-in does not finish, choose Reconnect on the plugin.

  4. Check that it is installed

Confirm that Nation appears under Installed. Installed connectors are account-wide.

  5. Attach it to a task

In a chat, type @ and pick Nation.

Add Nation to a Team Bot

Owners and managers of a Team Bot add shared plugins from the Setup section of the Bot's info pane, in the Plugins card. With a Remote HTTPS server that signs in with OAuth, as Nation does, the Bot uses each person's own sign-in, so every teammate signs in to Nation once.

Add Nation to Grok on grok.com

Grok on grok.com is a different product from Grok Bot, with its own connectors. On Grok Business and Enterprise, an admin first adds the server at console.x.ai, under Grok Business, Connectors: select + Add Connector, then Other, and enter the URL. Members then connect their own accounts on grok.com/connectors.

  1. Open Connectors

    Go to grok.com/connectors.

  2. Add a custom connector

Click New Connector, then select Custom.

  3. Enter the URL and sign in

Enter https://mcp.withnation.ai/mcp as the MCP server URL and finish Nation's sign-in.

Sign in to Nation and choose your store

The Nation side is the same for every assistant.

  1. Sign in with your email

Grok Bot opens app.withnation.ai/mcp-auth. Enter the email you use for Nation and the one-time code Nation sends you. There is no password and no API key to copy.

  2. Choose the account

If your email belongs to more than one Nation account, choose the one that owns the store.

  3. Choose the store

Pick the store Grok Bot may work with. One connection reaches one store. A store without an active plan is shown but cannot be picked.

  4. Select Connect

Nation creates a key for that store named after the assistant and ending in (MCP), then sends you back to Grok Bot.

What Grok Bot can do in your store

Once Nation is connected, Grok Bot works in the one store you picked, through Nation's tools.

What an assistant connected to Nation can do
AreaWhat the assistant can do
Products and collectionsSearch and read products, create and update them, change the status of many at once, and add products to collections
InventoryRead stock by location and set quantities
OrdersList and read orders, fulfill, refund and cancel them
CustomersList and read customers
DiscountsList discounts and create discount codes
ReportsList reports and run them
StorefrontRead the storefront's status, including the site agent's progress and unpublished changes, send the site agent a message, publish or roll back
Everything elseBlog posts, policies, metaobjects, markets, translations, email campaigns and domains, through general object tools that read the schema first

Read tools only read. Tools that delete, refund, cancel or reach outside Nation are marked as destructive or open-world, so the assistant can ask you before it runs them. Changes it makes are saved in your store like any other change.

What to ask Grok Bot once Nation is connected

Ask in plain words, the same way you would ask a person who runs the store with you:

  • Which products sold best this month?
  • Show me orders that still need to be fulfilled.
  • What is running low on stock?
  • Create a 15% discount code for returning customers.
  • Make the homepage headline shorter, then publish the storefront.

Disconnect Nation from Grok Bot

  1. Sign in to Nation

Sign in at app.withnation.ai with your email and the one-time code.

  2. Open Settings, then Developer

This page lists the keys that assistants use to reach your store.

  3. Revoke the key

Revoke the key for Grok Bot, the one ending in (MCP). Access stops at once. If you use Nation in Grok Bot again, it asks you to connect again.

  4. Remove the plugin in Grok Bot

In Connect apps, open Nation and choose Remove. On grok.com, remove the connector on grok.com/connectors.

If Nation does not work in Grok Bot

  • The store you want cannot be picked: it needs an active plan, or it belongs to another Nation account. Sign in with the email that owns it.
  • Grok Bot cannot reach the server: check that the URL is exactly https://mcp.withnation.ai/mcp, with /mcp at the end.
  • Grok Bot works in the wrong store: one connection reaches one store. Revoke the key in Nation and connect again, choosing the other store.
  • Changes do not show on your live site: storefront changes stay unpublished until you publish them. Ask the assistant to publish the storefront.
  • The plugin shows Disabled by team admin: your Cursor team's connector policy blocks the server. Ask your admin to allow it.
  • The plugin says Added but the Bot cannot use it: Added means installed, not signed in. Open Nation in Connect apps and choose Authenticate.
  • Still stuck: email dk@withnation.ai with the email you sign in with, the store name, the assistant you used, what you asked and roughly when.

Nation

Category: an AI store builder

Nation says one description of what you make builds the store, then agents handle orders, customers and delivery and run ads, content and social posts, with you approving the work. The Nation connector lets Grok Bot work in one Nation store you choose.

Limits today

  • Status: pre-launch, with a waitlist on withnation.ai.
  • One connection reaches one store; connect again to work in another store.
  • Only stores with an active plan can be connected.
  • The assistant can change and delete things in your store, so read its confirmation prompts before you approve them.

Nation publishes this page about its own connector. Nation does not make Grok Bot, and the steps for Grok Bot come from its maker's documentation.

Questions about connecting Nation to Grok Bot

Do I need an API key to connect Nation to Grok Bot?

No. Nation's connector signs you in with OAuth, so you never copy a key. Grok Bot opens Nation's sign-in page, you enter your email and a one-time code, choose a store and select Connect. Nation then creates a dedicated key for that store itself, and you can revoke it in Settings, then Developer.

Can Grok Bot change my store without asking?

Grok Bot changes your store only when it calls one of Nation's write tools for you. Tools that delete, refund, cancel or reach outside Nation are marked as destructive or open-world, so the assistant can ask you first. Read those prompts before you approve them, and revoke the key in Nation if you want access to stop.

Can I connect more than one store to Grok Bot?

One connection reaches one store, the one you pick while signing in. To work in a different store, revoke the key for Grok Bot in Nation under Settings, then Developer, and connect again, choosing the other store. Stores without an active plan are shown in the list but cannot be picked.

Is Grok Bot the same as Grok on grok.com?

No. xAI documents them as separate products. Grok Bot is an app for AI teammates that adds connectors as plugins from Connect apps. Grok on grok.com has its own connectors page, where you add Nation under New Connector, then Custom. You can connect Nation to either one, or to both with separate sign-ins.
