Quick answer
To sell on Wix you need a paid plan: the cheapest one that accepts payments is Core at $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront), and Wix Payments then charges 2.9% of the transaction amount + 0.30 USD on each standard US card sale. On a $30 sale that card fee comes to $1.17. Light costs $17 a month (billed yearly) but cannot take payments, while Business costs $39 a month (billed yearly) and Business Elite $159 a month (billed yearly).

Wix pricing: every plan in one table
Wix pricing for a seller has two main parts: a plan priced per month, and a processing fee on every order paid through Wix Payments. The cheapest plan that accepts payments is Core at $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront). Wix Payments then takes 2.9% of the transaction amount + 0.30 USD on each standard US card sale.
The table lists each plan as the Wix plans page shows it for a US visitor. Prices on the plans page are for yearly subscriptions paid upfront; other billing periods exist. The plans page also notes that prices and currency vary by location; USD prices are shown for reference, and that plan prices do not include applicable taxes, which depend on your billing address.
Every paid plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee, which applies to your first upgrade to a Premium plan. There is no free trial for Premium plans, so the guarantee is the way to try a paid plan before you commit to it.
Can you sell on the Wix free plan?
On the free plan, you can build the store, add products, set up shipping and publish the site. What you cannot do is accept payments: Wix requires a Premium or Studio plan that supports payments. The free plan also has branding limits: connecting your own domain and removing Wix branding need a Premium plan.
The Light plan does not solve this either. It costs $17 a month (billed yearly), and Wix says the Light plan cannot accept payments through your site. So the starting price for selling on Wix is the Core plan at $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront). The free plan is still useful for building and testing the store before you pay.
What changes between Core, Business and Business Elite
All three selling plans accept payments, and the Wix Payments fee article lists one set of US rates with no mention of plans. What changes between them is the level of the eCommerce tools, the storage, automated sales tax and the Wix fee on subscriptions sold through Pricing Plans. Wix's plans page and plan overview list these differences for each plan.
The Light plan, for comparison, has 2GB storage and no payments.
Automated sales tax is the clearest reason to move from Core to Business. Wix's plans page lists it as not included in Core, while Business includes automated sales tax for 100 transactions per month. Sales tax rules vary by state, so check what applies to your shop. This page is general information, not tax advice.
Pricing Plans is the Wix app you add to your site to sell subscriptions to your customers. If you sell memberships or subscriptions that way, the plans page lists a Wix transaction fee of 4% on Core, 2% on Business and 0% on Business Elite.
Wix fees on one $30 sale, compared
Wix Payments charges a processing rate that depends on how the buyer pays. Below, the same $30 sale on Wix and three other store builders, each on its own payment service and the plan named in the assumptions.
- Wix baseline $1.17 plus $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront) Card 2.9% + $0.30 $1.17
- Shopify $1.17 plus $29 a month billed yearly Card 2.9% + 30¢ $1.17
- Square Online $1.29 free plan Card 3.3% + 30¢ $1.29
- Squarespace $1.77 plus $19 a month billed yearly Transaction 2% $0.60, Card 2.9% + $0.30 $1.17
Assumes a $30 item, a standard US card (not American Express), free shipping, no tax, no ads and no currency conversion. Each store uses its own payment service: Wix on Core, Shopify on Basic, Squarespace on Basic and Square Online on its free plan.
Wix Payments fees beyond the standard card rate
The 2.9% of the transaction amount + 0.30 USD rate covers a standard US credit or debit card. American Express, PayPal, buy now pay later and cross-border payments cost more. The table lists the main Wix Payments fees for a US seller, as the Wix fee article states them.
On a payment in another currency, the processing fee, any cross-border fee and the currency conversion fee are charged in addition to each other. If you do not need shoppers to pay in other currencies, keeping checkout in your site's main currency avoids the conversion fee.
If you would rather not use Wix Payments, Wix also works with over 70 other payment providers. This page does not cover their rates, so check each provider's own pricing.
How to work out what Wix costs you each month
Example: a shop on the Core plan that sells $30 items online, paid mostly by standard US card.
Start with the plan
Core costs $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront). If you need automated sales tax, use Business at $39 a month (billed yearly) instead, which includes automated sales tax for 100 transactions per month.
Add the card fee on each order
Each $30 card sale pays $1.17 to Wix Payments. Multiply that by the number of orders you expect in a month.
Add the fees that apply to some orders
American Express orders pay 3.7% of the transaction amount + 0.30 USD, PayPal orders 3.49% of the transaction amount + 0.49 USD, and buy now pay later orders 6% of the transaction amount + 0.30 USD (Afterpay, Affirm, Klarna). Cross-border payments add 1.5% of the transaction amount on top of the standard processing fee.
Allow for refunds and disputes
Refunds: Original processing fee not returned on refunds; no extra refund fee. A chargeback can add a fee of 15 USD (20 USD for PayPal with Wix Payments).
Yearly or monthly billing, renewals and the free domain
The prices in the plan table are yearly prices. Wix also sells monthly plans: a monthly plan renews automatically each month. The plans page does not display monthly prices, so check the monthly price at checkout before you choose.
Yearly plans come with extras that monthly plans do not. Wix offers a 1 Year Free Domain voucher on selected yearly or multi-year plans. The voucher is included only with the first purchase of a yearly plan, not with renewals or upgrades, and it is redeemable within 60 days of purchase, only for a new domain from Wix. Wix also states that monthly plans do not include Wix vouchers or premium apps.
Other billing rules from Wix's help center:
- Renewal: plans renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renewal.
- Turning off auto-renewal: Wix says to do it after the first 14-day money-back period, otherwise the plan is cancelled immediately.
- Changing plans: you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time.
- One site per plan: each Premium plan is valid for one site only.
Which Wix plan to choose for selling
For most new shops the choice is between Core and Business. Both take payments, so the decision comes down to the monthly price and whether you need automated sales tax.
- Skip Light if you plan to sell. It costs $17 a month (billed yearly) and cannot take payments.
- Choose Core at $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront) to start selling at the lowest Wix price, with Basic eCommerce and 50GB storage. Automated sales tax is not included.
- Choose Business at $39 a month (billed yearly) when you want automated sales tax for 100 transactions per month and Standard eCommerce, or a lower Pricing Plans fee if you sell subscriptions.
- Choose Business Elite at $159 a month (billed yearly) if you need Advanced eCommerce, automated sales tax for 500 transactions per month or unlimited storage.
- Pay yearly if you plan to stay on Wix. Wix says its yearly plans offer savings and include a voucher for a 1-year free domain.

Describe what you makeQuestions about Wix pricing
How much does Wix cost to sell online?
Selling online with Wix starts at the Core plan, which costs $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront). Wix Payments then charges 2.9% of the transaction amount + 0.30 USD on each standard US card sale, so a $30 sale pays $1.17. Business costs $39 a month (billed yearly) and Business Elite costs $159 a month (billed yearly).
Can I sell on Wix for free?
You cannot take payments on Wix for free. On the Wix free plan, you can build the store, add products, set up shipping and publish the site, but taking payments needs a Premium or Studio plan that supports payments. Light cannot take payments either, so the cheapest way to accept orders is Core at $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront), plus the processing fee on each sale.
Does Wix take a percentage of sales?
Wix takes a percentage of each sale paid through Wix Payments, which is Wix's own payment provider. A standard US card sale pays 2.9% of the transaction amount + 0.30 USD, so a $30 card sale pays $1.17. The Wix plans page also lists a transaction fee on Pricing Plans subscription sales: 4% on Core, 2% on Business and 0% on Business Elite.
Is Wix pricing monthly or yearly?
Wix pricing on the plans page is yearly, shown as a monthly amount. Prices on the plans page are for yearly subscriptions paid upfront; other billing periods exist. Core, for example, is listed at $29 a month (billed yearly, paid in full upfront). Wix also sells monthly plans, and a monthly plan renews automatically each month. Wix states that monthly plans do not include Wix vouchers or premium apps.
Does Wix have a free trial?
Wix does not have a free trial for its paid plans; its help center says there is no free trial for Premium plans. Instead, your first upgrade to a Premium plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee, so you can cancel early for a full refund. You can also build the store on the free plan before paying.
Does Wix refund fees when I refund an order?
Wix does not return the Wix Payments processing fee when you refund an order. Original processing fee not returned on refunds; no extra refund fee. That is the rule in the Wix Payments fee article for a US seller. A chargeback is a separate matter, and it can bring a fee of 15 USD (20 USD for PayPal with Wix Payments).
